This important biennial 3 day Conference is the only international forum for the sharing of innovation, best practice and policy development in the field of short breaks/respite care for people with disabilities.  This is your opportunity to learn about what is new and exciting in this area and by your participation, influence policy into the future. The underlining theme will draw on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Article 19, the equal right of all persons with disabilities to live in the community, with choices equal to others, to explore how short breaks can provide opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate on an equal basis within their communities.

Papers include presentations and workshops from practitioners, service providers, allied health professionals, academics, and from families/parents.  The conference will represent the variety of ideas, experiences, practice, research and methodologies in short break provision.   The Conference is seen as an opportunity for innovative thinking and rich discussion on new approaches to the understanding of short breaks and respite services.

The Conference programme will include social gatherings in the evening and cultural events so that conference delegates can enjoy the beauty of their surroundings in Galway!
